"We are believers in a world where world-class healthcare does not depend on the part of the world you live in."
"Sub-Saharan Africa has 25% of the world's global disease burden, yet shares less than 1% of total global healthcare expenditure. Furthermore, the region's share of the global healthcare workforce is less than 3%. This means that generally as a region, sub-Saharan Africans get sick more often, but don't have the resources needed to address these healthcare challenges. And this reality does not only apply to the African continent; this same fact is played out across nearly all lower-middle income countries.
We believe that if we want to tackle the healthcare challenges facing emerging markets, we need to stop trying to force solutions that were created for external economies, and ask ourselves what should healthcare look like for us? At Diaspora Health we believe that global healthcare innovation starts with the Diaspora - the community of first and second generation immigrants who have migrated away from their homeland, but still support their families living abroad.
The diaspora community cares deeply about their loved ones back home and on average spend hundreds of dollars a year on healthcare for their family and friends abroad. However, local conditions often prevent them from getting access to the best quality of care, and this often means that even though hundreds of dollars are spent on trying to give loved ones abroad the best care possible, they often struggle to get the basic care they deserve.
We are on a mission to change that. We use a team of local and remote doctors and nurses to bring best-in-class healthcare services right to the door of your loved ones living abroad. We are able to do this by leveraging our expertise in technology, healthcare innovation, and evidence-based clinical service delivery to bring you and your family affordable and reliable healthcare that would typically only be available in an advanced economy. That's because we are believers in a world where world-class healthcare does not depend on the part of the world you live in."
